A cat carrier has two jobs: the vet visit you plan and the one you do not. A top opening lets you lower a reluctant cat in from above instead of pushing it through a side door, and that is the opening most cat owners use on our carrier. Mesh on four sides lets your cat see out, which calms some cats and not others: a towel over the top darkens it for the shy ones.
Pick the size by your cat, not by the label on the food bag. A cat within 15 x 9 x 9 in and up to 15 lb fits the Medium, and that is the size designed for cabin flights. A long or heavy cat, up to 18 x 12 x 12 in and 25 lb, belongs in the Large, which travels by car. Leave the carrier open in a room at home for a few days before the trip, with the fleece mat inside.

Which Henkelion carrier should you get for a big cat?
The Large: 20 x 13 x 13 in outside, for a cat within 18 x 12 x 12 in and up to 25 lb. It is for car trips and the vet. For a flight, a cat has to fit the Medium.
Can you load your cat into the Henkelion carrier from the top?
Yes. It opens at the top and at the side, both with lockable zippers, so you can lower your cat in from above.
How do you get your cat used to a Henkelion carrier?
Leave it open on the floor for a few days with the fleece mat inside and a treat now and then, so it becomes a place to nap before it becomes the way to the vet.
